Once the gums have been sutured and the gauze compresses placed at the operated sites, you will be kept under observation for a few minutes so that the surgeon can ensure that the bleeding is controlled and that you are able to return home. We recommend that you be accompanied on the day of the procedure.

You will receive the post-operative instructions as well as a spare sterile compress pack, and the 1-week check-up appointment to remove the sutures will be made before you leave.

You will receive a prescription for painkillers and antibiotics during the preoperative appointment. For any further information or any questions, do not hesitate to contact us at 021 922 82 47.

The first day after the surgery you will definitely still have some slight bleeding and pain. Each patient is different and how you will respond to the swelling and symptoms varies greatly from one person to another. The most typical symptoms (pain, edema, etc.) appear 2-3 days after surgery, then subside in the following days.

You can reduce the inconvenience caused by edema by using continuous ice packs during the first 36 hours after surgery. The more ice you apply during the first few hours, the less the swelling and the lower the pain.

It may feel difficult to open your mouth properly after the third post-operative day, which is quite normal. If this sensation persists, report it to the surgeon at your check-up appointment one week later. In principle, it is advisable to rest for a few days (no intense physical activities) after this type of surgery.

Follow the post-operative advice you have been given to minimize as much as possible the inconveniences associated with this type of surgery. Most patients recover completely after 5 to 10 days.
